Luke wasn't at all familiar with this part of the universe. He had been traveling in his X-Wing for a couple weeks already, and still hadn't reached his destination. He had sensed a very strong being in this region, and he decided it would be worth a shot at training a new jedi. As he continued, he realized he was drawn to a planet. He was sure that the being was here -- he knew it. But he didnt know if the environment was even hospitable...
Artoo was babbling away at Luke with information as he began his approach on the planet. He remembered long ago when he sought out Yoda on Dagobah. He was just a boy then... This planet resembled both Dagobah and Endor. He made a safe landing, and hopped out courageously. The air was breathable luckily. He walked about fifty paces in one direction, with R2-D2 following. He looked around and noticed a bog on one side and a cave to the other.
There was a dangerously large reptile like creature swimming around near the surface of the bog. When it caught sight of Luke, it reared its head out of the water and snapped its enormous jaws open and then shut in a split second. There wasn't any way for the creature to harm Luke though, because there were a few boulders In the way and the creature couldn't seem to get out of the water.
"Stay put Artoo, I'm going to check out this cave. I shouldn't be long." Luke said to the trusty droid, and entered the cave…
He could feel the force beckoning to him. He drew nearer and nearer to the being. With every step. The voice he heard a few minutes earlier repeated itself.
"Ditto! Ditto!"
What? The Jedi Master was confused..
"Ditto!!"
..And a small creature jumped out at Luke's feet. He knelt down to examine it. This couldn't be what has called me to the planet, Skywalker thought. As he stood up and began to walk farther, he heard the familiar sound of a lightsaber. He spun around and ignited his own weapon in an instant.
WHAT??
He saw himself. Luke saw himself right in front of him.
"Who are you???" Luke stammered.
He didn't satisfy Luke with an answer. The other Luke looked at his own lightsaber, not knowing what to do. It was as if he didn't understand what it was for.
"I'm warning you friend, tell me who you are and what you are doing here." Luke warned the other jedi. Still, nothing. Luke took a swing, and the other man blocked with quick reflexes. He was attacked in return, but it was a weak swing, and Luke parried it and kicked the man. He was still confused on who this was… it seemed as if he were fighting himself…
This man hadn't been wisely trained. Luke had no problem fighting him. He had no intention of killing him, just tiring him into surrender.
The man then knocked over the real Luke, whiched surprised him. Luke watched as the man who looked exactly like himself turned and ran out of the cave.
When Luke emerged into the daylight, it was the small creature once again, and Luke could still feel the presence of the force. What was it about this thing? He was just about to bend down again to look at it when…
"Ditto!!" The creature exclaimed with glee, and slowly began to grow.
"Back to the fighter Artoo! Now!" \
The thing was now three times its normal size, still growing. It's jaws were huge. When it started to resemble the creature from the bog, which was still staring at Luke and his opponent, Luke realized that it had very strong leg muscles. This thing could obviously not only swim, but run as well. Luke pulled his blaster and shot twice at the edge of the cliff above them. A small boulder fell and hit the creature's back, hurting it but obviously not disabling it..
Luke was already running towards the X-Wing. Almost there… Almost…
He slipped in a puddle of mud, his face hitting the ground with a splat- the creature was up and running. Luke got to his feet and was on his way. He knew he'd never make it…
With a quick swipe of his lightsaber, he cut right threw the nearest tree, which came toppling down right after he passed under it. Artoo was in the ship, readying for take-off, just as Luke slipped into the cockpit. The tree hit the animal's neck, snapping it.
As the X-Wing was floating up and out of the clearing, he saw the creature jerk a few times, and then lie still…
